I saw Closer last night, and it's important that I blog down my distaste while it is fresh. It is a glamorized version of Jerry Springer -- the same dysfunctional people, except with beautiful faces. After spending thirty minutes nodding my head and trying to find a deep acceptance in the imperfections of human beings and the impossibilities of lasting love, it occurred to me that no one should have to! Cheating and lying may be apart of human nature, but that does not mean we should jazz it up and call it art.
This holiday, I love Love Actually. :)

I'm still confused. Makes me wonder if it's me or the movie that needs some enlightenment.
I haven't seen the movie, but reading the descritption on the web, I'm not sure I want to see it. The description sounds as bad as you describe it. I don't think I'd want to sit through an hour and a half of adultery. I agree it happens, there's no denying that. But why glamorize it? Seems like a case of "fueling the disease" to me. Just my opinion, though, I'm not the one making the movie. Maybe it just didn't do a good job of portraying it's deeper meaning.
It's encouraging to see that not everyone is seduced by a "good" script and a Hollywood cast.

i thought the movie was very good but i wouldn't watch it again. it made me upset and miserable the entire time. the sad thing is that the movie is a snapshot of real life. there ARE ppl like that in this world, even if we personally don't encounter them. that's what got me so upset.
